Ramesh Parajuli, PhD is a medico-legal expert with Doctorate (2013) in Medical Negligence Law. He regularly speaks and lectures on medico-legal issues at National Judicial Academy, Law Universities, Medical Universities, and Bar Associations. He has advised Government of Nepal, Nepal Medical Council, and various institutions including Tribhuwan University's Faculty of Law in various issues.
As a member of Government of Nepal's Advisory Committee, he submitted "The Report on Fair Investigation & Compensation in Gross Medical Negligence by Health Care Providers, 2017" to the Government. He played Advisory role to the Nepal Medical Council in revising Doctor's Code of Ethics that led to the adoption of new "Code of Ethics for Medical Doctors, 2017". Both these advisory roles have contributed to achieve a proper balance between "patient safety" and "fearless working environment to ethically practicing doctors" in the Medico-Legal sector of Nepal. He also served as one of the expert members in framing semester system curriculum of the Faculty of Law, Tribhuvan University Curriculum Development Committee for B.A. LL.B. which was implemented from FY 2016/17.
Besides academic involvement, he has legally represented numerous cases at courts and some of them have led to establishment of landmark precedents from the Supreme Court of Nepal. In Dr. D. B. Shah Case (2009), Nepalese Supreme Court directed Government of Nepal to initiate enactment of separate Act for regulating Medical Negligence and Medical malpractice in Nepal. The Public Interest Litigation in Ramesh Parajuli et.al. Case (2017) laid seven precedents relating to transitional justice in Nepal one of them being "until arrangements for guarantee of justice by punishing culprit based on truth, objectivity and scientific investigation are made, there shall be no public faith over Rule of Law and State mechanism".
Academic career:
He was born in Pokhara and educated at Vindhyaswori Adarsha Boarding School with distinction in SLC before moving to NIST, Kathmandu in 1998 from where he completed grade 11 & 12 in Science with Biology as a major. Before receiving his advocate licence in 2005, he graduated from Kathmandu School of Law as a first batch of five year's BA.LL.B in the country. He pursued masters (2005-2007) and graduation (2000-2005) both in Criminal Law with specialization in Forensic Science & Medical Jurisprudence. For further specialization in medical aspect of law, he completed PhD from Amity University, Noida India in 2013.
He entered teaching career from 2006 and since then he has experience of teaching various legal subjects including jurisprudence, criminal law, and legal research at various Law Schools. From 2017, he formally entered into Tribhuwan University as a permanent teaching Faculty securing first in merit list in an open competition for the post of Assistant Professor of Law. Currently, he is teaching Forensic Medicine, Criminal Law, and Juvenile Delinquency at Faculty of Law, Tribhuwan University; has published more than a dozen research works and articles; and has supervised numerous law students involved in legal research.

He has been honored with “Nepal Bidhyabhusan Padak A”, a highest academic award in Nepal by former Hon’ble President of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav (2014); “Excellent Student Award” by former Chief Justice of Nepal Hon’ble Kedar Nath Upadhyay (2003); and “S.L.C. Distinction Award” award (1997).
